YES!!!! (about how dangerous it is) I suggest you take great precaution, especially if you’re traveling by yourself.

The police presence (supplemented by the National Guard) is pretty good at all hours.

Just stay in the main waiting area (near the big departure board) and you’ll be fine.

NY is safer than most cities in America.

My friend this is very safe during the amtrak police nj transit police the station at 1am so the station at 1am so the station is very safe during the late night hour the last 15 or 20 years.

    Depends, What scares you ?
There are plenty of cops, paramedics and soldiers on duty 24/7.
Typical street crime ? almost nonexistent.
It’s well lit and heavily trafficked.
Have a beer and a pretzel, don’t make a nuisance of yourself and I doubt anybody will even take notice of you.

A bullet proof vest does not protect your limbs and head. ^_^
It is quite safe with marked and unmarked police presence.
